Witness appeal following road related incident near Bere Regis

Officers investigating a road related incident near Bere Regis are appealing for witnesses and are keen to speak to a motorist who stopped to assist.

It was reported that some time between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday 20 January 2024 a Hyundai Tucson had come to a stop on the A31 east of Bere Regis.

It was reported that a man stopped to help and gave the female driver a lift to the nearby The World’s End pub at Almer.

Officers attended and, following enquiries, a 28-year-old woman from Ferndown was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence. She was subsequently released on police bail.

Police Constable Ramsay Inkster, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I am keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the man who gave the woman a lift to The World’s End pub so we can get his account of what happened. I would like to stress that we are treating this individual purely as a witness who can help our enquiries.”
