Arrest in connection with reported aggravated burglary in Lyme Regis

Detectives investigating a report of aggravated burglary in Lyme Regis have made an arrest.

It was reported that shortly after 9pm on Saturday 3 January 2026 an unknown man gained access to an address in Poole’s Court and assaulted the occupant. 

The offender then left the premises. It is not believed anything was stolen from the property.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. It was subsequently reported that he had sustained a number of facial fractures.

Following detailed enquiries by detectives from Dorset County CID, a man aged in his 30s from Axminster in Devon was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He has been released on police bail as further investigative work is carried out.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information relating to the incident to make contact with them.
