Assault, Bournemouth, 21 April 2026.jpg

Officers are issuing an image of a man they would like to identify following an assault on a taxi driver in Bournemouth.

At around 5.30pm on Wednesday 8 April 2026 a taxi driver picked up a group of passengers in Westover Road.

It is reported that one of the group was shaking the driver’s seat repeatedly. The taxi driver pulled over and asked the passengers to leave the car.

The male offender punched the victim in the side of the face and shouted abuse at him.

Police Constable Jack Tweed, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was an unprovoked assault on a man who was just trying to do his job.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises the man in the image to please get in touch.”
