Appeal for information after criminal damage in Weymouth

Officers investigating criminal damage in Weymouth are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported to Dorset Police that a group of young people was damaging parked vehicles in Wooperton Street between 8pm and 9pm on Monday 11 September 2023.

The members of the group were described as male and female and aged roughly between 13 years old and in their early 20s.

They jumped on multiple vehicles, kicked wing mirrors and threw glass bottles at the windscreens. The group was then seen travelling from Wooperton Street to Park Street and then possibly towards the area of Westham Bridge.

Police Constable Bryce Scott-Jones, of Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am really keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who may have relevant camera footage of this incident recorded on their home security cameras.

“Also, if your vehicle was parked in the area and you have received any damage that has not yet been reported to police, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230144429. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
