Appeal for witnesses following alleged robbery in Bournemouth

Officers investigating a reported robbery in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 12.55am on Tuesday 22 August 2023 in Wellington Road.

The victim – a local man aged in his 70s – was approached by a man on a bike who allegedly assaulted him, causing him to fall to the ground.

It is reported that his wallet was stolen and the offender left the scene after the victim called for help. The man cycled off in the direction of Lidl.

Following enquiries, a 42-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Jo Morgan, of Boscombe Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area to please come forward.

“In particular, I understand there were a number of vehicles on Holdenhurst Road, including two taxis that were stationary in Lidl car park at the time of the incident, and I would urge the drivers to please get in touch if they have any relevant dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230132481. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
