Assault in Poole – witness appeal

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they investigate a report of an assault in a car park in Poole.

At around 12.10pm on Thursday 14 March 2024 the victim, a man aged in his 50s, was in his vehicle which was parked in the Sandbanks Ferry car park on Banks Road when he became involved in a dispute with another motorist over parking. The other man then grabbed the victim by the throat and took his mobile phone.

The phone was subsequently recovered by the victim, and he did not sustain any serious injuries.

Sergeant Chris Vaughan, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident and we understand the car park was busy at the time it occurred, so I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.

“I would also urge any motorists who were in the area of the car park around the relevant time and have dashcam fitted to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
