Appeal for information following suspicious fire near Wareham
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a suspicious fire near Wareham.
Dorset Police received a report at 5.14am on Sunday 2 August 2026 from the fire service in relation to an incident at the Imerys clay extraction site off Bere Road.
It was reported that a number of plant machinery vehicles had been damaged by the fire. Following enquiries, it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately.
Detective Inspector Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are carrying out detailed enquiries into this incident and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity between around 3am and 5.15am on Sunday 2 August 2026 to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist us.”
