Appeal for witnesses following reported assault in Dorchester
Detectives investigating an alleged assault in a car park in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
The incident occurred between 10am and 11am on Monday 16 February 2026 in a car park in Bridport Road near to the junction with Hawthorne Road.
It is reported that a local man aged in his 30s was assaulted by a man with a screwdriver.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening.
A 45-year-old man from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant Ben Turner, of Dorset County CID, said: “I understand that members of the public were in the area and intervened in the incident and I am asking them to please come forward.
“I am also keen to speak with anyone else who may have information or relevant footage to assist our investigation.”
