Witness appeal following reported assaults in Weymouth
Officers investigating a report of assaults that occurred on a bus in Weymouth are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The incident occurred on a First bus opposite the Tesco store on Portland Road in Wyke Regis at around 9.30pm on Wednesday 15 May 2024. It was reported that a man assaulted a woman who was known to him before also assaulting the bus driver.
Neither victim is believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
Officers attended and a Weymouth man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
Police Constable Antony Frost, of Weymouth and Portland police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to speak to any other passengers who were on the bus at the time. I would urge them to please get in touch so we can take their account of what they saw.
“I understand there may have been further witnesses who saw what happened as the man and woman involved left the bus in the area of Tesco on Portland Road and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please come forward.”
