Witness appeal following alleged assault in Weymouth

Detectives are investigating an alleged assault in Weymouth and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that at 2am on Sunday 12 July 2026 a man was assaulted at an address in Rodwell Road by two other men, of which one of them was known to him.

The victim sustained facial injuries.

Following enquiries, a 41-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of assault, intentional strangulation and threats to kill. He currently remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Emma Swann, of Dorset Police, said: “It was reported that the victim was able to leave the address and while doing so, a man and a woman came to assist.

“I am very keen to hear from these two witnesses as they may have information that could assist our investigation.”
