Witness and dashcam appeal following serious injury collision in Holton Heath

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they carry out enquiries into a serious injury road traffic collision in Holton Heath.

Dorset Police received a report at 11.52am on Tuesday 30 January 2024 of a collision on the A351 Wareham Road, near the turning to the Romany Works Business Park, involving a silver 600cc Honda scooter and a grey Ford Focus.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the scooter, a man aged in his 70s from Wareham, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His family has been made aware.

The driver of the Ford, a woman aged in her 60s from Wareham, did not sustain any injuries.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and the collision scene was examined. The road reopened at around 6.35pm.

Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident is ongoing and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured relevant dashcam footage to please make contact with us.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and for a detailed examination of the scene to be conducted.”
