Appeal for witnesses following reported assaults in Bournemouth
Detectives investigating alleged assaults in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
At approximately 11.50pm on Thursday 23 June 2022 two boys were reportedly involved in an altercation with a group of young people on Fisherman’s Walk beach in Southbourne.
During the incident, it is alleged that the boys were assaulted and a bottle was smashed in the face of one of the victims. They were both taken to hospital for treatment.
It is reported that one of the group was in possession of a knife.
It was further alleged that the group assaulted a male cyclist who was in the area around the time of the incident.
Following enquiries, a 17-year-old boy from Eastleigh in Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Laura Smith, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Our investigation is continuing and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the incident.
“I would also like to appeal directly to the male cyclist who was reportedly assaulted to please come forward so we can ensure you are OK and take your account of what happened.”
