A detailed investigation by detectives into a serious injury collision in Bournemouth has led to two men being jailed.

Following extensive enquiries into a collision in Etches Close on the evening of Monday 7 October 2024, Vinny Dean Conrad Morgan, aged 21, was found guilty following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court of offences of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

His father Conrad Lee Morgan, aged 55 and of Bournemouth, was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

On the evening of the incident, Dorset Police received a report at 10.10pm in relation to a man who had sustained serious injuries in Etches Close.

Emergency services attended and the man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury to his left leg, which subsequently required amputation.

It was reported that the victim has been involved in a collision with a black Range Rover.

Following a search of the area, a vehicle matching the description was found unoccupied nearby on Hoxley Road. The vehicle was found to have false plates and had been reported stolen.

It was linked to the collision through blood on the front of the car.

Extensive CCTV enquiries led to the defendants being identified as the occupants of the vehicle on the evening of the collision. They were also seen in possession of baseball bats and were involved in an altercation with two other men in Etches Close shortly before the collision.

The victim went to assist the men and as he was doing so, the Range Rover returned to the scene and drove directly at him. He initially jumped out the way, but the vehicle reversed and drove at him again, pinning him against a wall.

The Range Rover was then turned round and left the scene.

The defendants were arrested during the early hours of the next morning following enquiries by officers.

At their sentencing hearing on Monday 30 June 2025, Vinny Morgan was jailed for a total of 13 years and six months, as well as being disqualified from driving for 10 years and nine months.

Conrad Morgan received a prison sentence of nine months.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Hodgson, of BCP CID, said: “This was a shockingly violent and dangerous act involving a vehicle deliberately being driven at an innocent member of the public.

“The victim has suffered a horrendous injury as a result, however, the actions of these defendants could easily have resulted in a fatality.

“Thanks to the detailed and fast-paced investigative work of the officer in the case - Detective Constable Hannah Duell - and the team, we were able to identify the defendants and quickly arrest them so they could be held accountable for their actions.”
