Witness appeal following robbery in Bournemouth
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a robbery in which a car was stolen in Bournemouth.
At around 9.30pm on Monday 12 August 2024 the victim, a man aged in his 20s, drove his vehicle – a light blue Peugeot 108 – into the Pavilion Car Park off Westover Road. As he parked the vehicle, he was approached by a group of men wearing balaclavas who began banging on the window.
One of the men then opened his car door and threatened the victim, before another man struck him with what was believed to be a baton.
The victim fled the scene and sustained an injury to his shoulder as a result of the incident.
The offenders then drove his car out of the car park.
Detective Sergeant Kate Brew, of BCP CID, said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim, and we have launched a full investigation to identify those involved.
“We are exploring a number of active lines of enquiry and from our investigation we understand there were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident.
“I would urge any witnesses to please contact us and we are also keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 552400123837. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
