Witness appeal following reported assault in Bournemouth
Detectives investigating a reported assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
At around 1am on Monday 13 November 2023, officers responded to reports of an altercation between two men close to the YMCA gym in Westover Road in which one of the men was allegedly stabbed repeatedly in the hand with a screwdriver.
Officers and ambulance crews attended. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
A 44-year-old man from West Berkshire was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Michelle Lawrence, of Dorset Police, said: “An investigation into this incident is ongoing to establish what happened. I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to please contact Dorset Police.”
