Update – third charge in connection with fatal collision near Ashley Heath

A third man has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision near Ashley Heath.

A collision occurred at around 9.25pm on Thursday 15 June 2023 near to the Ashley Heath Roundabout on the northbound carriageway of the A338. The collision involved a Nissan Micra and a Lexus GS300.

Very sadly the front seat passenger of the Nissan Micra – 31-year-old George Greaves from Hampshire – was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants from the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Yusuf Muzil, aged 23 and of Cricklewood in London, was the driver of the Lexus and was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 29 September 2023 to 12 years in prison after admitting causing death by dangerous driving and two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Witnesses reported seeing the Lexus and two other vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of 80mph in the moments leading up to the collision.

Following enquiries to identify the suspected drivers of the other vehicles involved, a 29-year-old man from London was arrested on Monday 6 November 2023 and subsequently charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as fraudulent use of a registration mark or registration document and causing death by driving a vehicle with no insurance or where the driver is unlicensed. He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 16 February 2024.

After continued enquiries by officers, a 29-year-old man from Solihull in the West Midlands, was arrested on Tuesday 30 January 2024. He has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death by driving whilst disqualified, causing death by driving a vehicle with no insurance or where the driver is unlicensed and fraudulent use of a registration mark. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 February 2024.
