Witness and dashcam appeal following fail-to-stop collision in Upton

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Upton.

The incident occurred at around 6.25pm on Sunday 5 July 2026 on Upton Road at the Upton Gateway Roundabout by the A35. It was reported that a red Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with another vehicle, believed to be a black Volkswagen Golf, which reportedly did not stop at the scene.

The driver of the Corsa, a woman aged in her 50s, and her child passenger were both taken to hospital as a precaution but were not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Police Constable Kier Dagnall, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would ask any witnesses to come forward if they have not already had contact with police.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“It is believed the vehicle that failed to stop would have sustained damage to its front end during the collision. I would also urge anyone who has come across a black Volkswagen Golf or similar vehicle locally that has sustained front-end damage in unexplained circumstances recently to please contact us.

“Finally, I would urge the driver of the vehicle involved to please do the right thing and get in touch so we can take your account of what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260100557. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
