Emergency services attended and the child – a three-year-old boy – was taken to Southampton Hospital by air ambulance for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious. He was subsequently released from hospital and is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and was released under investigation as detailed enquiries were carried out into the circumstances of the collision.

Following this investigative work, officers have found no evidence of any driving offences and he has now been released from the investigation and will face no further police action in relation to the incident.
