Update – arrest in connection with reported robbery in Weymouth

A man has been arrested in connection with an investigation by detectives into a reported knifepoint robbery in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 1.45pm on Friday 19 April 2024 that a man had threatened a staff member and demanded money from the till, as well as other stock items, at Macey’s Newsagents in Abbotsbury Road.

It was reported that the man was in possession of a knife.

Following extensive enquiries, led by detectives from Dorset County CID, a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has been released on police bail as further investigative work is carried out.
