Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate a fatal road traffic collision in East Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.38pm on Friday 23 February 2024 of a collision on Horton Road at Ashley Heath, near to the junction with Woolsbridge Road, involving a black Kawasaki motorcycle and a black Vauxhall Grandland.

Emergency services attended and very sadly the motorcyclist – a man aged in his 30s from Brighton in Sussex – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man aged in his 70s from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, did not sustain any serious injuries.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and the loved ones of the man who sadly died as a result of this collision and officers are doing all they can to support them.

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam fitted who were driving in the vicinity around the time of the incident to please review their footage to check if they have captured anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
