Appeal for information following alleged criminal damage in Bournemouth

Officers investigating alleged criminal damage in Bournemouth are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at around 4.40pm on Sunday 10 March 2024 of criminal damage to a vehicle in Christchurch Road in Boscombe.

It is reported that whilst stationary in traffic, the driver of a grey Hyundai Tucson exited their vehicle and punched the rear off-side window of a beige Fiat 500 using a knuckle-duster, causing damage.

It is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

Officers attended and a 19-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, driving offences and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Lizzie Christie, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, as well as any residents or business owners with doorbell or CCTV cameras who may have captured footage of the incident.

“I would also urge motorists with dashcams fitted to their vehicles who were driving along Christchurch Road at the time of the incident to please review their footage to see if they have recorded anything that may assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240036499. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
