Update following reported fail-to-stop collision in Bournemouth
Officers investigating a reported fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Bournemouth have made an arrest.
Dorset Police received a report at 10.15pm on Friday 10 January 2025 of a collision involving a bicycle and a vehicle in Castle Lane West, near to the Broadway Roundabout. It was reported that the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.
The male cyclist, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious. He has since been discharged.
Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the collision and have identified a white Ford Transit van which is suspected to be involved.
A man aged in his 30s from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and conspiring to pervert the course of justice. He has been released under investigation as further enquiries are carried out.
Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of this collision and have updated the injured man and his family with the latest developments.
“I am still keen to hear from any witnesses to this incident who have not already spoken to police, as well as anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage.”
