Information appeal following sexual assault in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing for information to identify a male suspect following a sexual assault in Bournemouth.

Between 7.15am and 7.20am on Friday 11 August 2023, the victim – a woman aged in her 30s – stopped to tie her shoelace outside Lidl in Wimborne Road.

A man cycled past and slapped the victim on the bottom while she was leaning over.

The offender is described as white with a light complexion, aged in his early 20s and of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved black top, a high-visibility sleeveless jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and a dark-coloured rucksack on his back.

Police Constable Robert Pennington, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am continuing to investigate this incident and would ask anyone with information about who was responsible to come forward.

“Also, I am keen to speak to any motorists or residents who may have captured a man matching the description given cycling in the area at the relevant time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230126330. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
