Witness appeal following reported altercation in Weymouth
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate a reported altercation in Weymouth town centre.
Shortly after 9pm on Thursday 1 August 2024 officers responded to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people in St Thomas Street, near to the Tesco Express store.
It was reported that two men had been involved in a fight and had sustained injuries.
A 24-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and a 32-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries but have since been discharged and taken into police custody.
An 18-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assaulting an emergency worker.
Police Constable Harry Chaplin, of Weymouth and Portland police, said: “We take reports of public place disorder very seriously and have launched a full investigation into this incident.
“I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police and would also urge anyone who has captured the incident on mobile phone or other footage to please contact us.”
