Appeal for information after man assaulted in West Moors

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after a man was assaulted in West Moors.

The incident occurred at around 2pm on Wednesday 22 November 2023 in an alleyway off Arnold Close leading to Station Road.

It is reported that three young people on bikes asked the victim – a man aged in his 50s – for some money.

The victim said that he did not have any and was subsequently assaulted by one of the three male cyclists. He sustained bruising to his eye and swelling to his head.

Police Sergeant Bill Nightingall, of East Dorset police, said: “This was an unprovoked assault and we are doing all we can to support the victim.

“I am conducting enquiries into what happened and would ask anyone with information about those responsible to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen three young people on bikes acting suspiciously in the area to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230184720. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
