Appeal for information following reported public order incident in Swanage

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a reported public order incident in Swanage.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.50am on Sunday 14 April 2024 of a man acting suspiciously and reportedly following a family on Swanage Beach and loitering around the seafront.

The man was described as wearing a bright orange high vis top, a blue baseball cap and blue jeans.

Officers attended and, following further enquiries, a local man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.

Police Constable Josh Hurwood, of Purbeck police, said: “We are carrying out further enquiries into this incident to establish the full circumstances and I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity on the morning of Sunday 14 April 2024 and witnessed anything suspicious to please contact us.”
