Man due to appear in court following reported fail-to-stop collision in Dorchester
A man is due to appear in court in connection with a reported fail-to-stop collision in Dorchester.
At around 6pm on Monday 11 November 2024 a collision occurred on Bridport Road near to the junction with Williams Avenue involving a car – a blue Skoda Enyaq – and a pedestrian.
It was reported that the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Poundbury.
The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 80s – was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
Following an appeal and enquiries by officers of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, a 72-year-old man from Dorchester came forward and was subsequently issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11 June 2025 for an offence of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop after a road accident.
