CCTV appeal following reported assault in Bournemouth

Officers are issuing CCTV images of a man they would like to identify following a report of assault in Bournemouth town centre.

It was reported that shortly after 2pm on Friday 23 January 2026 a man aged in his 40s was approached by three other men in Avenue Lane in the area of The Triangle. He was reportedly punched and kicked and struck with a bicycle chain.

Following proactive enquiries by officers, a 32-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 33-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and was released under investigation.

Police Staff Investigator Aimee Saunders, of the Bournemouth Volume Crime Team, said: “Fortunately the victim did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of this incident.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries and I am issuing images of a man we would still like to identify in connection with this matter.

“I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact us.”
