Arrests made following alleged assault at boxing event in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating reports of disorder at a boxing event in Bournemouth have made two arrests.

During the evening of Saturday 27 May 2023, it is reported that a man aged in his 30s was assaulted at a boxing event at the Vitality Stadium in Kings Park.

He sustained a serious injury to his ear that required medical treatment.

Following enquiries, a 47-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. He has been released under investigation while the investigation continues.

A second man, aged 21 and also from Bournemouth, was arrested on suspicion of assault and affray and subsequently issued a conditional caution.

Detective Inspector Darren Moores, of BCP CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate the reported assault, as well as a number of other fights that occurred involving spectators in the crowds.

“I would like to reiterate my appeal for anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on mobile phone footage from within the stadium to please come forward.

“While our enquiries are continuing, I would appreciate information from anyone who was present and knows the identities of those involved.”
