Prolific burglar who targeted properties in Bournemouth jailed
An investigation by detectives has put a prolific burglar behind bars after he targeted three properties in Bournemouth within a 24-hour period.
Darryll Khazanchi, aged 32 and of Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud by false representation, three counts of burglary and one count of possession of a knife in a public place.
At around 6.50pm on Wednesday 12 March 2025, a resident at an address in Windham Road was home alone when she heard a voice downstairs.
She looked down her stairs and saw Khazanchi inside. After he left the property, she realised that lights had been turned on and the defendant had been inside the address.
A short time later at around 7.05pm, the defendant is seen to enter another address in Windham Road and left with a bag over his shoulder. A PlayStation, items of clothing, perfumes, laptops and bank cards were stolen.
Later that evening at around 8.50pm, the stolen bank cards were attempted to be used in various shops in the town centre.
CCTV footage was obtained from the fraudulent transactions, which identified Khazanchi who was wearing clothing that was stolen in the earlier burglary.
The next morning on Thursday 13 March 2025, a burglary occurred between 8.30am and 10.20am at an address in Somerset Road in Boscombe. A camera, speaker and bag were stolen.
Further enquiries at Cash Creators in Boscombe revealed that Khazanchi had attended the shop after committing the burglary and sold the camera and speaker.
On Monday 24 March 2025, the defendant was located on Old Christchurch Road and subsequently arrested. A search was carried out and he was found to be in possession of a knife in his jacket pocket.
Khazanchi was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Wednesday 30 July 2025 to four years and six months in prison.
At the sentencing hearing, he had a further six burglaries taken into consideration, which occurred between Sunday 16 March and Saturday 22 March 2025.
Detective Sergeant David Went, of the Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “A burglary is a very intrusive incident that can really have a long-lasting impact on victims after their personal space has been entered.
“We are determined to identify burglars such as Khazanchi and hold them account for their offending.”
