Man charged in connection with serious injury collision in Bournemouth
A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with a serious injury collision in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 1.10pm on Thursday 1 May 2025 of a collision in Kinson Road, near to the junction with Cherford Road, involving an e-bike and a car.
It was reported that the car involved – a blue Mercedes – failed to stop at the scene.
Emergency services attended and a man aged in his 20s was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be life-changing.
A second man, also aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
Both men remain in hospital receiving treatment.
Following fast-time enquiries, a 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 17-year-old boy and a 36-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. All three people – from Bournemouth – were subsequently released on police bail.
After further extensive enquiries, a 24-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested and has been charged with conspiracy to commit kidnap, two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving and possession of a bladed article. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 5 May 2025.
A 48-year-old man from Bournemouth was also arrested on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable only offence. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Ian Allen, of Dorset Police, said: “Since Thursday 1 May 2025 detectives have been working at pace to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, which is believed to involve people who are known to each other.
“Following detailed enquiries, a man has been charged to appear in court and this matter will now be the subject of court proceedings. It is vital that the court process is allowed to follow its course without prejudice, and we would strongly urge people to refrain from speculation and commentary online or on social media.
“Officers continue to carry out regular dedicated reassurance patrols in the vicinity and we would continue to urge members of the public with any information or concerns relating to this incident to please speak to them. We would like to thank members of the public who have responded to our appeals for information so far and would urge anyone with details that might assist our investigation who has not already contacted us, to please get in touch.”
