Arrest following reported burglaries in Poole and alleged robbery in Bournemouth

Officers have arrested a man in connection with a number of reported burglaries in Poole as well as an alleged street robbery in Bournemouth.

Following investigative work, officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) arrested a 22-year-old London man in relation to four reports of burglary in the Sandbanks area that occurred between Tuesday 29 August and Saturday 9 September 2023.

The suspect was also questioned in relation to a report that a man was assaulted and had his watch stolen in Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth during the early hours of Sunday 10 September 2023.

He has been released on police bail as officers carry out further enquiries.

NET Inspector Jon Sainsbury said: “Officers have taken positive action to arrest a suspect in connection with the reported burglaries in the Sandbanks area. Following further enquiries, he was further arrested in relation to the reported robbery in Bournemouth town centre.

“We have received a number of reports of thefts of personal items such as phones, watches and wallets as people are enjoying a night out in Bournemouth, often with victims not realising anything has been taken until some time later.

“I would urge members of the public who are out in the town to be mindful of their personal possessions and not make them an easy target for suspected thieves.”

Anyone with information relating to these incidents is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230143514.
