Officers located man responsible for indecent exposure series in Lyme Regis
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team located and arrested a man who was found to be responsible for an indecent exposure series in Lyme Regis.
Geoffrey Chambers, aged 71 and of Cwmbran in Wales, pleaded guilty to one count of performing an act of outraging public decency, four counts of exposure and five counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 15 July 2025.
The offences occurred between Monday 26 August 2024 and Sunday 13 July 2025 and involved Chambers indecently exposing himself to members of the public in the town.
On one of these occasions, he was witnessed performing an indecent act.
An investigation was carried out to try and identify the man following a number of reports made to police.
On Sunday 13 July 2025, officers received information that a man matching the description of the suspect was currently in the town. He was swiftly located and arrested.
He was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 15 August 2025 to five years in prison.
Police Constable David Williams, of Dorset Police, said: “We take reports of this nature very seriously and will do all we can to identify anyone committing such offences.
“These incidents took place on the busy beach where a lot of members of the public would have been nearby.
“I am pleased that Chambers is now behind bars and facing justice for his actions.”
