It is reported that during the afternoon of Sunday 10 March 2024 the victim – a woman in her 30s – was assaulted by a man in the public toilets in the East Cliff area.

The victim was subsequently treated in hospital for serious injuries to her legs, arms, shoulders, back, head and face.

It is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to one another.

Detective Sergeant Emma Swann, of Dorset Police, said: “A detailed investigation into the incident is underway and the victim is being supported throughout our enquiries.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw or heard anything suspicious to please contact us.

“I am also aware that several members of the public came to the victim’s aid at the time of the incident and I am keen to speak to any of them who have not already contacted police.

“I would also ask residents with home CCTV, or motorists with a dashcam fitted who were travelling in the East Cliff area around the time of this incident, to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
