Witness appeal following reported sexual assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating a report of a sexual assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 12.15am on Wednesday 17 August 2022 a 19-year-old woman was walking under the Bath Road flyover in the town centre when she was approached from behind by a man.

It is reported that he sexually assaulted her, before being pulled away by another man.

Following enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Swansea in Wales was arrested on suspicion of assault by penetration and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Adam Aggas, of Bournemouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway and we are providing support to the victim.

“I understand there may have been a number of people in the area at the time and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached by anyone who wants to discuss any concerns or provide information.”
