Attempted robbery in Weymouth – appeal for information

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate an attempted robbery in Weymouth.

The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was walking along Wyke Road at around 3.30pm on Saturday 28 January 2023 when he heard a man shouting at him from the other side of the road. The man crossed the road and approached him before demanding money.

The man put his hand into his trousers as if he was reaching for something and the victim then fled the scene. He did not hand over any money.

The offender is described as white with blond hair and a beard. He has a teardrop tattoo under his eye and was wearing a grey hooded top. He was also carrying a black rucksack.

Police Constable Sam Hill, of Weymouth police, said: “We are conducting enquiries to identify the man involved in this incident and I would urge any witnesses to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who recognises the man from the description given above.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230014469. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
