Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision near Lytchett Matravers.

At 7.44am on Wednesday 19 June 2024 Dorset Police received a report of a collision on Huntick Road, near to the The Courtyard Craft Centre, involving a white Volkswagen Up! and a bicycle.

Emergency services attended and the cyclist – a 14-year-old boy – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and for a full examination of the scene to be conducted.

Sergeant Tracey Downer, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the child who was seriously injured as a result of this collision and his family at this difficult time for them all.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam fitted who were travelling in the vicinity on the morning of Wednesday 19 June 2024 to please review their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a full examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
