Appeal for information following reported assault in Swanage

Detectives investigating a reported assault on a teenage boy in Swanage are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report of an incident that occurred at around 10pm on Friday 9 June 2023 in the area of Swanage Bus Station. It was reported that a 15-year-old boy sustained a laceration to his body following an encounter with other teenage boys who were known to him.

The boy was treated by the ambulance service but did not require immediate hospital treatment.

Following enquiries by officers, two teenage boys – aged 15 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. They have been released on police bail as detectives from carry out further enquiries.

Detective Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and from our enquiries we understand there were a number of people in the vicinity at the time of this incident.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has any further information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us.

“I would also urge motorists with dashcam who were in the area and residents with home CCTV to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
