Appeal for information following fail-to-stop collision in East Dorset

Officers investigating a fail-to-stop road traffic collision in East Dorset are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

At around 7.25pm on Thursday 23 February 2023 a man aged in his 40s was driving a black BMW on Horton Road, near to the Horton Inn, when he was confronted by a black sports car coming towards him on the wrong side of the road.

It was reported that the sports car was overtaking of a white car with ‘L’ plates. The BMW driver was forced off the road and onto the verge as he attempted to evade the overtaking vehicle. His car sustained damage and he suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

It was reported that the other two vehicles – the white car with ‘L’ plates and the black sports car – did not stop at the scene.

Police Constable Rob Chandler, of East Dorset police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this collision, and I would urge the drivers of the other two vehicles involved to please come forward so we can take your accounts.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the collision and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230032543. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
