Dorset Police received a report at 10.37pm on Monday 29 December 2025 that a man had sustained stab wounds in Dennistoun Avenue.

The victim – a man aged in his 40s – was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following initial enquiries, officers arrested a 33-year-old man from Christchurch and a 35-year-old woman from Poole on suspicion of attempted murder. They were released on police bail.

Following further and extensive enquiries by detectives, including checking available CCTV footage and speaking to members of the public who were in the area at the relevant time, the two arrested people have been released without charge and will face no further police action in connection with the incident.

Officers liaised with the victim to provide support and he does not wish the case to proceed at this time.
