Witness appeal following reported robbery in Weymouth

Detectives investigating an alleged robbery in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It is reported that at around 1.55pm on Thursday 18 April 2024 a man was located with injuries following an assault by two men in Crescent Street.

The men allegedly stole the victim’s wallet during the incident.

The victim – a local man aged in his 50s – sustained injuries to his head and was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment.

A 51-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Inspector Rhys Griffiths, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident and I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened.

“Also, I am appealing to motorists who may have been travelling in the area and captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage to assist our enquiries.”
